Free Trade Agreements

Since 2000 Nicaraguan government has been working hard to open Nicaraguan market to the international trade. Having a difficult economic history, Nicaragua has learned the lesson and works as a team to maintain its competitiveness and attraction for the overseas clients.

CAFTA: In 2003 Nicaragua has successfully negotiated CA-USA agreement (CAFTA) that is specifically beneficial to Nicaraguan textile and apparel industries.

CA4-Canada: Currently Nicaragua is negotiating Free Trade Agreement with Canada. The next round is planned for June 2004.

CBTPI: Carrebean Basin Trade Initiative was the Free Trade Agreement that dictated the apparel industry development for the last years. Special regimes allowed under this agreement have provided special benefit to the assembly companies.
