CA4-Canada

Free Trade Agreement between 4 Central American countries and Canada has been under negotiation since September of 2000. Both aprties have strong opposing positions regarding Exporting Processing Zone regime, which will be the deciding point of the FTA outcome.
Read below for the actual status of CA4-Canada regarding textile and apparel industries.
Apparel:
- Inmediate access duty free
- Cumulation with NAFTA
- Origin accumulation and complete degravation in 5 years
Canada proposal for Textiles
As shown in teh graph below, Canada proposes to decrease the tarriff from 18% to 16% since the FTA entrance in force. During the first 3 year decrease it to 12%. And later decrease will be subject to elimination of EPZ regime.
